How to compare football shirt measurements
A size letter is a starting point. The useful comparison is a measurement of the exact shirt and version you want.
Start with a shirt that fits
Lay a comfortable shirt flat on a level surface. Smooth out folds without stretching the fabric. Measure the chest width from one underarm point to the other, then body length from the agreed shoulder or neck point to the hem. Write down the measuring points along with the numbers.
Compare like with like
A flat chest width is not the same as a body circumference. A relaxed measurement is not equivalent to a stretched measurement. Ask the supplier to use the same method and centimetres for your exact reference and requested size.
| Check | What to request |
|---|---|
| Chest | Flat underarm-to-underarm width, in cm |
| Body | Length and the exact starting point |
| Sleeve | Length from shoulder seam or neckline, as appropriate |
| Version | The exact supplied cut and reference |
Keep each reference separate
Do not assume that an L in one design matches an L in another. Different constructions, cuts and batches can use different dimensions. A photograph can show a neckline or sleeve shape, but it cannot establish fit.
Save a record for your order
Keep reference, version, size, agreed measurements and quantity together. A photograph of the tape endpoints can help make the method clear. For a mixed order, confirm the measurements for each style before payment.
